Homemade Big Mac FakeAway Recipe

Recreate the iconic McDonald’s Big Mac at home with this easy recipe! Get the same juicy double beef patties, secret sauce, and layered goodness—all made fresh in your kitchen.

Ingredients

For the Patties:

  • 400g minced beef (80/20 fat ratio)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

For the Big Mac Sauce:

  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped pickles
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

For Assembling:

  • 3 sesame seed burger buns (for 2 burgers)
  • 4 slices of American cheese
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • ½ cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 4 dill pickle slices

Instructions

1. Prepare the Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, mustard, pickles, vinegar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavours develop.

2. Cook the Beef Patties

  1. Divide the minced beef into 4 equal portions and shape into thin patties.
  2. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Heat a frying pan or griddle over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Add a slice of cheese to two of the patties and let it melt.

3. Assemble the Big Mac

  1. Lightly toast the top, bottom, and middle buns.
  2. Spread Big Mac sauce on the bottom and middle buns.
  3. Add a layer of shredded lettuce, diced onions, and pickle slices.
  4. Place a cheese-covered patty on the bottom bun, stack the middle bun, add the second patty, and then the top bun.
